In 1928 the Peace dollar quota was reached and minting abruptly stopped. The San Francisco Mint produced just 1.6 million Peace dollars that year, one of the lowest mintages of the series. A total of just under 2 million were released — vastly fewer than most earlier dates and substantially fewer even than the later 1934 and 1935 productions, when the series was briefly revived. In mint-state quality, this elusive issue regularly sells for $495. You’ll pay significantly less than that for our sharply detailed Extra Fine quality.
